Mumma Muse with Alice, aka aliceinhealthyland
Tell us about @aliceinhealthyland; what drove you to start the blog?
My intentions for starting my blog 4 years ago, are not my intentions for my blog now. The reason I started though, was to share my weight loss journey as I had lost 20kg. I wanted to share my passion for my new healthy lifestyle. It is now more about self love, the wellness journey of my Healthyland, motherhood and mindfulness. You will still see lots of recipes on there too.
How has motherhood changed you?
Well for starters it has taught me about a love I never knew existed. Motherhood has most defiantly changed me in profound ways. It has pushed me at times until I thought I would reach breaking point, but every time I hold on and prove to myself that we as a family can get through anything.
What are the greatest lessons motherhood has taught you?
My little souls teach you about happiness and freedom. It has also taught me that I am strong and that you will do anything in the world to protect your tribe. I love being a mumma.
What piece of advice would you like to share with other Mums about motherhood?
Just do you. Take little snippets of advice from other Mumma’s, family members, blogs, books but please do not feel guilty about the way you do Motherhood. What works for me, may not work for you and that’s totally okay. Just own your style.
What is the most challenging aspect about motherhood for you?
I would say there are many challenges every day. But the most challenging would be coming to terms with knowing that you cannot protect them forever. Argh that scares me. In my heart I know I can only guide them and teach them what I know.
What drives you to maintain a healthy lifestyle for yourself and your family?
Being a nurse, I see so many patients that are so unwell. It breaks my heart. I want to do what I can to give my tribe the best life possible. I believe that teaching them about wellness and how to maintain it themselves when they get older is the best gift I can give them, besides loving them of course.
How do you find balance in your life especially with your husband and close friendships?
My husband and I are always so supportive of letting each other take time for our self and letting each other explore our own personal goals and dreams. Life can get hectic but making time for good relationships with family, friends and each other is so important to us.
How do you manage time with your family and work each week? can you share any tips?
So my hubby and I have a fortnightly routine haha. We both are lucky and have set days. My hubby works long 12-14hr days but only does 8 a fortnight. I do 5 set days a fortnight. First week - Monday – Hubby has the kiddies, Thursday – Daycare day. Second Week – Monday – My sister has them, Wednesday – Hubby has them, Thursday – Daycare day. We get every second weekend together as a family so that is nice.
