Mumma Muse with Steph, AKA justanothermummyblog
Tell us about @justanothermummyblog; what drove you to start the blog?
I started the blog because most of my friends didn’t have babies yet, so I did feel a little alone. I wanted to connect with other mums and also used the blog as an outlet which really did help my mental state. I also LOVE to write, I actually did some journalism at uni!
How has motherhood changed you?
Oh gosh, in so many ways! I think we all change when we become a mother. We put our kids needs above our own and do whatever it takes to make them happy. It has actually made me more relaxed in a sense, I know I am not in control of everything. Initially it was a huge adjustment for me, with my anxiety I always had to feel in control, and for the first time I literally had to go with the flow. It’s actually made me a lot more organised somehow too! haha
What are the greatest lessons motherhood has taught you?
To go with the flow and the enjoy the little things in life; family, friends, a roof over your head and a hot cup of coffee.
What piece of advice would you like to share with other Mums about motherhood?
That you got this mama! Trust in yourself and ability to parent your own children.
What is the most challenging aspect about motherhood for you?
Probably trying to juggle the girls, housework, the blog and be a sane human being haha!
What drives you to maintain a healthy lifestyle for yourself and your family?
Exercise and eating well really help me with my anxiety so over the past 8 years I’ve kept up with this healthy lifestyle. However, I feel like now I really understand and appreciate what good health and being fit means for me. I stopped focusing on how I look and more on how I feel. I want the girls to grow up running around outside and not being stuck in front of a screen.
How do you find balance in your life especially with your husband and close friendships?
To be honest I’m still not sure if I’ve found a balance. Some weeks I feel like I’m killing it and some weeks everything is due at once, there is 5 piles of washing to be done and we are having toast for dinner! But that’s just part of being a mum, we can’t be perfect all the time and that’s ok! I think when I realised this, I stopped being so hard on myself which makes the balance more achievable.
How do you manage time with your family, fitness, blogging and work each week? can you share any tips?
I feel like this is still a learning process for me on finding the time. We don’t really have much support in terms of babysitters so I really do need to utilise the girls nap times! I clean everyday which usually makes the housework more doable. The cordless vacuum was my saving grace! Haha
I try to get to emails as soon as I wake up, and things like meal prep come in very handy.
What is your favourite PONO product and recipe?
I love the coconut probiotics in my overnight oats! It gives them the best taste!
- ½ cup oats
- ½ cup almond milk
- 1 teaspoon PONO Probiotics Coconut Powder
- Drizzle of honey
- Blueberries
- Then leave in the fridge overnight! Done!
